A Christchurch web designer was so impressed by Invercargill Brewery’s Pitch Black stout he gave up his time to promote it.
Flexedesign design managing director Cameron Simpson was hooked on the award winning stout from the first mouthful and went looking for more.
When he found the brewery’s jaded old website the talented designer and Invercargill old-boy tracked down master brewer Steve Nally and volunteered to redesign the site – for free.
“Bizarre as it may sound when I first got Cameron’s offer I was too busy to take him up on it,” Steve said.
The brewery had just moved to new premises and was struggling to manage the relocation, the red tape associated with the move and keep on top of brewing for an increasingly thirsty public.
Luckily the brewery had developed another fan at other end of the beer spectrum – lager lover Amanda Watson of Write Answers who also offered to pitch in.
The Invercargill consultant was able to liaise with the Christchurch designer to spread the word on a brewery they’re both big believers in.
“It’s a real win-win-win situation, we do what we do well; the Nallys’ do what they do superbly; there’s more good beer in the world and more people know about it,” the pair said.
That the website would also enable fans in Christchurch (not to mention the rest of New Zealand) to find local stockists and order their favourite brew is an added bonus.
“We like to think of it as a service to the community – just in time for Christmas,” they said.
Now that’s the power of good beer.
